Astoria Farmer Dies Monday Evening In Canton Hospital

Loyd Robert Surratt, 34, of Sheldons Grove, near Astoria, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday in the Graham hospital, Canton, where he had been a patient three days. He had been ill several months.

Born April 19, 1925, near Sheldons Grove, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Miller) Surratt, he was married on April 8, 1950, in Lewistown, to Evelyn Shaw, who survives.

Other survivors are two children, Beverly and Steven, at home; his mother, Mrs. Hubert McCombs of Rushville, eight brothers and sisters, Donald Surratt and Mrs. Marie Thompson, both of Ray, Ill.; Mrs. Alma Trimmer of Havana, Mrs. Rosalie Graham of Tovey, Ill., and Charles, Jack, Phillip and Mrs. Eloise Carlock, all of Aurora, and two brothers at home, Bobby Jo and Ernie.

His father preceded him in death.

The Rev. Eugene Reynolds will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Shawgo Memorial Home, where friends may call after 10 a.m. today. Burial will be in Sheldons Grove cemetery.
