She was a daughter of Kenneth and Clara Burgard Easley of Vermont. She married Richard L. Southwood. He preceded her in death in February, 2020.
She also was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Jean Azbell; and one brother, Kenneth Norman Easley.
Surviving are three sons, Michael, Neil and Klayton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She went to school in a one-room schoolhouse near Ipava. She was a graduate of Western Illinois University and a schoolteacher in Cuba. Following subsequent periods of employment for schools in Canton and Pekin, she spent many years as office administrator of the State Farm insurance agency.
She and her husband travelled to church sponsored trips to Guatemala to help build schools, and numerous trips to Europe.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Pekin. She also was a member of the Tazewell County Genealogy Society.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at her church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Neither flowers or gifts are requested.
Memorials may be made in her memory to the John C. Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
