She was born March 14, 1926, in Beardstown, a daughter of John and Nellie Scherrer Smith. She married Harold Spencer on March 24, 1946, in Yorktown, Va. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2014.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Reverend Harold Spencer Jr.; two brothers, Charles and Jack Smith; and one sister, Pat Smith.
Surviving are five sons, Robert (and Peggy) Spencer, Gailen (and Rhonda) Spencer, John (and Heather) Spencer, David (and Brenda) Spencer, all of Astoria, and Ronnie (and Jo Ellen) Spencer of Beardstown; one daughter, Christine (and Moe) Sisson of Zeeland, N.D.; one daughter-in-law, Alice Spencer of Luray, Va.; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She worked in the Deli Department at IGA in Lewistown.
She was a member of Summum Christian Church and later attended Bader Christian Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Astoria Cemetery with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
