Verna SmithVerna L. Morrison Smith, 95, of Bushnell, formerly of Ipava, died at 7:45 p.m. Nov. 1, 2020, at The Elms in Macomb.

She was born March 31, 1925, in Bushnell, a daughter of Laurin and Opal Cowman DeRenzy. She married William Morrison on May 30, 1948, in Bushnell. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1976. She later married Charles Smith on Feb. 14, 1979, in Lewistown. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Dale Morrison; six brothers, Charles, Gerald, Richard, Howard, Gale and Larry; and four sisters, Margaret Lamm, Dorothy Saulter, Peggy Briney and Shirley Miller.

Surviving are two sons, Eldon (and Brenda) Morrison of Monmouth and William (and Barbara) Morrison of Lincoln; one daughter, Sandra (and John) Ziegler of Wadsworth, Nev.; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Morse of Lewistown; two brothers, Robert DeRenzy of Canton and Kenneth (and Nancy) DeRenzy of Macomb; one sister, Linda Havens of Marietta; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker. She also was a volunteer at McDonough District Hospital and owner/operator of Morrison’s Hideout in Ipava.

She was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church, Ipava Legion Auxiliary for 68 years and Ipava Order of the Eastern Star #226.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bushnell Township Cemetery in Bushnell. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Mo., or the Ipava American Legion Post #17.
