Opal DeRenzy Of Bushnell Dies

Opal L. DeRenzy, 84, of 1500 W. Main, Bushnell, died at 9:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 1990, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born Jan. 17, 1906, in Knoxville, a daughter of William L. and Ella I. Kennedy Cowman. She married Laurin J. DeRenzy on April 12, 1924, in Bushnell. He died on Sept. 22, 1966.

She also was preceded in death by three sons, Howard, Richard, and Gerald; one daughter, Margaret Lamm; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by five sons, Charles of Pekin, Robert and Gale, both of Canton, Larry of Bushnell and Kenneth of Macomb; five daughters, Verna Smith of Ipava, Shirley Miller of Bushnell, Peggy Briney of Bluff City, Linda Sue Havens of Marietta and Dorothy Saulter of Salisbury, Mo.; 34 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.

She attended Brown’s Business College in Galesburg.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell with Rev. Larry Glenn officiating. Burial was in the Bushnell Cemetery.
