Rodney Simpson, 70, of Astoria died at 2:21 p.m. Oct. 21, 2020, at his home.

He was born April 9, 1950, in Canton, a son of Haskell and Mildred Smith Simpson. He married Ruth Anderson on March 17, 1973, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael (and Amber) Simpson of Lafayette, Ind., and Shaun (and Danielle) Simpson of Scribner, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Stanley Simpson.

He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 28 and a half years of employment.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1969-73.

He was a member of the United States American Legion Post 2910 in Bloomington.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service in the Browning Cemetery will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
