James L. “Jim” Simpson, 61, of Bath died at 11:50 p.m. Dec. 11, 2013, at Mason District Hospital.

He was born Sept. 28, 1952, in Canton, a son of Haskell and Mildred Elaine Smith Simpson. He married Gay Bishop on April 29, 1978, in Summum.

Surviving are his wife of Bath; two daughters, Misty (and John) Miller of Browning and Cari (and Brandon) Lindsey of Bath; one brother, Rodney (and Ruth) Simpson of Astoria; one stepbrother, Gary Nicholas of Quincy; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Simpson; and his parents.

He had served on the Bath Village Board and volunteered his time mowing and plowing snow in Bath. He drove for several trucking companies for over 30 years, finally owning his own company before retirement.

He served in the U.S. Navy.

Cremation rites were accorded. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana was in charge of arrangements.
