Janet Rebecca Summers, 74, of Astoria died at 3:58 p.m. July 22, 2019, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

She was born Dec. 12, 1944, in Macon, Ga., while her father was stationed there for World War II. She is a daughter of Donald and Beatrice Ethridge Curless.

Surviving are two children, Vince Summers and Becky Rossman; two brothers, Keith (and Denise) Curless and Ted (and Jane Anne) Curless; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle White; her parents; and one sister, Carol Hinesley.

After the war, they moved to Bluff City. After high school, she lived in Texas, Colorado and Minnesota. She was a homemaker and seamstress.

She moved back to Illinois where she worked at Jeanne’s Country Kitchen.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Bluff City Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Sawyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Prevailing Faith International Church of Bluff City. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
