Robert M. Snowden, 80, of West Chicago, formerly of Vermont, died Nov. 28, 2013, at his home.

He was born July 17, 1933, in Vermont, a son of Robert and Lillian Snowden. He was raised in Vermont on a farm.

Surviving are his wife, Karen; four children, Robin Snowden, Melanie (and Dan) Duriavich, Heather (and Dave) Mack and Zachary (and Liliana) Snowden; one sister, Mary Anne Bartlett of Quincy; six brothers, Paul Snowden and Nelson Snowden, both of Vermont, Howard Snowden of Quincy, Donald Snowden of Industry, Phil Snowden of Macomb and Dick Snowden of Norfolk, Va.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lyle Snowden.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He received his masters degree from Western Illinois University. He began his teaching career in Lorain, Ohio, and went on to be a teacher and then Dean of Students at Willowbrook High School in Villa Park.

Burial was in Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago. Williams-Woodward Funeral Home in West Chicago was in charge of arrangements.
