MAXINE E. (SMITH) DICK SACKMAN

Maxine SackmanMaxine E. Sackman, 89, of Astoria died at 7:10 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008, at Astoria Gardens & Rehab Center.

She was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a daughter of James W. and Tina E. Stufflebeam Smith Sr. She married Fred P. Dick on June 6, 1942, in Canton. He preceded her in death on June 12, 1957. She then married Bennie L. Sackman on Sept. 6, 1962, in Summum. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2001.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Harley, John, Milbern and James Smith Jr.; and two sisters, Minnie Spires and Gwendola Bouc.

Surviving are four daughters, Norma Jean (and Ernest) Parker of Browning, Donna Kay (and Clinton) Morrill of Havana, Patricia Ann Tharp of Astoria and Betty Mae Key of East Moline; one son, Fred L. Dick of Canton; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker all her life.

She was a member of Summum Christian Church. She attended Bluff City Community Church.

Services were held Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church in Havana with Pastor Paul Homan officiating. Burial was in Apple Cemetery in Lewistown. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
