Ernest ParkerErnest M. Parker, 83, of rural Browning, died at 4:05 a.m. Aug. 9, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Hunnewell, Mo., a son of Alvin and Olympia V. Smith Parker. He married Norma Jean Smith on Jan. 20, 1966, in Moline. She survives.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1954-56 as a Private in the YFD 8056 AU as a heavy equipment supervisor.

He worked for John Deere Company in Moline. He also was a licensed barber in Illinois, worked for The City of Glendale, Ariz., constructed mobile homes and was an armed security guard for casinos in Las Vegas, Nev.

He was a member of Sweetwater Church of the Valley in Glendale, Ariz.

Services were held Monday at First Assembly of God Church in Havana with Pastor Paul Homan officiating. Burial was in Apple Cemetery east of Lewistown with military rites provided by Astoria American Legion Post #25. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
