Everette ShawgoEverette D. Shawgo, 88, of Astoria died at 8:48 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born March 4, 1918, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a son of Lloyd and Mettie Pearl Groff Shawgo.

Surviving are one brother, Paul of Lewistown; three sisters, Freida (and Otis) Endres of Fairview; Faith (and B.D.) Foster of Havana and Barbara (and Gerald) Gruber of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard and Dwayne.

He served in the United State Army from 1942 until 1946 as sergeant in the 96th Division Infantry.

He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Lewistown VFW #5001, Astoria American Legion Post #25 and the Astoria Lions Club.

He farmed for 33 years in the Astoria, Ipava and Vermont area and was a farmer dealer of Vigortone Feed for 22 years, retiring in 1980. He also worked on and sold used bicycles.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery in Summum.
