She was born Dec. 12, 1931, in Ipava, a daughter of Lloyd and Mettie Pearl Groff Shawgo. She married Gerald Gruber on April 13, 1952, in Norfolk, Va. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2014.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy and Thomas Gruber; four brothers, Bernard, Everett, Dwayne and Paul; and one sister, Freida Endres.
Surviving are two sons, Roger (and Cynthia) Gruber of Galveston, Texas, and Larry Gruber of Hanna City; two daughters, Amy Middleton of Louisville, Ky., and Susie Spackman of St. Charles, Ill.; one sister, Faith Foster of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church, where she was active in the food pantry and church bazaars.
Services were held Friday at her church with Pastor Jason Gilmore and Pastor Wally Carlson officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
