W. Dwayne Shawgo, 76, of Lewistown, died at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 1996, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born on June 26, 1919, at Ipava, a son of Lloyd and Mettie P. Groff Shawgo. He married Mary P. Thomas on Dec. 22, 1939, at Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Franklin D. Shawgo of Lewistown; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Alice D.) McAdams of Cuba; seven grandchildren; four step-granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everette D. Shawgo of Astoria, Paul E. Shawgo of Lewistown; three sisters, Freida P. Endres of Fairview, Faith Foster of Havana and Barbara Gruber of Farmington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Shawgo was a lifetime farmer. He also had formerly managed the Lewistown Amoco Fertilizer Co. and had worked at the former Simpson-Powellson Lumber Co. in Lewistown. He was a member of the Lewistown Odd Fellows Lodge and the Fulton County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown with Rev. Kathy Bueker Sweet officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Garden at Canton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shields Chapel United Methodist Church or to the Lewistown Odd Fellows Lodge.
