MARGARET M. (McCARTY) SMITH

Margaret Smith

Margaret M. Smith, 67, of Lewistown died at 9:25 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2000, in the emergency room at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Vermont, a daughter of Arthur F. and Vada McKinley McCarty. She married Jack Smith on Feb. 2, 1953, in Lewistown. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Mike (and Jeanine) of rural Lewistown; three daughters, Vickie (and Harold) Aldridge and Rita (and Tony) Hagen, both of Lewistown, and Annette (and Tom) Schisler of Troy, Mo.; two brothers, Gene (and Linda) McCarty of Chester and John (and Barbara) McCarty of Bushnell; two sisters, Faye (and Steve) Orfans of Lewistown and Dorothy Krisher of Galesburg; one half brother, Arthur (and Charlotte) McCarty of Sterling, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Two half sisters preceded her in death.

She had been a custodian for 30 years at Prichard Clark Grade School in Little America before its consolidation into Lewistown School District 97. She also had been an Avon representative for several years.

She had attended Lewistown First Presbyterian Church.

Services were held Monday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home with Rev. Ithel Kenser officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
