Vada M. Anderson Dies Early Monday

Mrs. Vada M. Anderson, 74, of LaHarpe, formerly of Vermont, died at 7 a.m. Monday, Mar. 24, 1980, at St. Francis Nursing Home, Burlington, Iowa.

Born in Astoria Mar. 25, 1905, she was a daughter of John and Lucy Irwin McKinley. She first married Arthur McCarty in 1923, and he died in 1968. She then married Russell Pilger in 1969, and he died in 1971. She later married Gary Anderson in 1974. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, John McCarty of Adair, Gene McCarty of Rushville and Arthur McCarty of Sterling, Colo.; five daughters, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Fussner of Galesburg, Mrs. Steve (Faye) Orfans, Mrs. Willard (Thelma) Sheets and Mrs. Jack (Margaret) Smith, all of Lewistown, and Mrs. Delbert (Lois) Shawgo of London Mills; two brothers, Albert McKinley of Lewistown and Paul McKinley of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Barry of Canton, Mrs. Martha Rideout of Steamboat, Tex., and Mrs. Lee (Faye) Fagan of Rushville; 27 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Eight stepchildren also survive.

She had lived most of her life in the Vermont area, living the past six years in LaHarpe. She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and LaHarpe Senior Citizens Club.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Rev. Loren Abney officiating. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery.
