AMELIA (WERNER) STAMBAUGH

Amelia Stambaugh

Amelia Stambaugh, 87, of Yates City died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born Jan. 28, 1912, in Chatham, a daughter of John and Barbara Fahs Werner. She married Earl Stambaugh on March 30, 1935, in Canton. He died Sept. 3, 1993.

One son, Carroll, and one brother also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, Maurice of Lomax and Elmer of Goochland, Va.; two daughters, Mary Crenshaw of Yates City and Sue Stanfel of Minooka; three sisters, Anna Danner of Astoria, Esther Bowser of Newark, N.J., and Rosalee Wickert of Lewistown; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She lived in the Elmwood area for 20 years and later lived in LaHarpe for 24 years before moving to Yates City.

She was a member of Old Bedford Christian Church near Blandinsville.

Services were Friday at Woodland Church of the Brethren near Astoria with Rev. Vernon Dean officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery near Astoria. Patterson Funeral Home in Elmwood was in charge of arrangements.
