Laura O. Smith Of Pekin Dies

Laura Opal Smith, 84, of Beechwood Health Care Center, Pekin, died there at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 1990.

She was born Dec. 2, 1905, in rural Green Valley, a daughter of George and Alice Watson Wilson. She married Leo M. Smith in Pekin on July 12, 1947. He died Dec. 27, 1960.

One step-daughter and one brother also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sisters, Mabel Beam of Pekin, Mrs. Marshall (Alberta) Kessler of Rushville and Mrs. Dean (Mildred) Kessler of Ipava; and several nieces and nephews.

She was once employed by the former Guyer Memorial Home in Peoria, and later tended the elderly in the area for many years. She was a member of the Christian Church in Bader.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in Woolsey Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with Rev. Dan Demmin officiating. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
