Mrs. Martha Schisler Passed Away Thursday

Martha Furnace Schisler, daughter of Smith and Susan Furnace, was born near Browning, Dec. 4, 1871, and departed this life last Thursday at her home southwest of Astoria, after an illness of about a week’s duration, aged 62 years, 10 months and 7 days.

When a small child her parents moved to a farm about four miles southwest of Astoria where she has since resided, except a few years when she resided in Astoria.

On December 15, 1908 she was united in marriage to John W. Schisler. To this union two children were born, Dayton, at home, and Sherman, who passed away when about ten years of age. Besides the husband and son, she leaves to mourn her loss one brother, Charles Furnace and two sisters, Cora and Etta Furnace.

When a young woman she accepted Christ as her Saviour and became a member of the Oak Grove church. She has always lived a conscientious Christian life. She was a kind, loving mother and wife and will be greatly missed in her home, with her tender care for her brother and sisters.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at U. B. church, conducted by Rev. H. E. Longbrake. Burial in Oak Grove cemetery.
