She was born June 5, 1928, in Adair, the daughter of Kenneth and Wilma Swedell Hammond. She married Robert L. Rutledge on Dec. 26, 1948. He survives.
Also surviving are three children, Nancy (and Roy Evans) Rutledge of Macomb and Craig (and Margo) Rutledge and Kenneth (and Kathryn) Rutledge, both of Adair; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Pittman; one great-granddaughter, Lana Raelynn Rutledge; and one brother, Travis Hammond.
She lived in the Adair area all of her life and worked with her husband on the family farm.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or services. Inurnment will be in Pennington Point Cemetery west of Adair at a later date. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be sent to the family, who in turn will send them to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
