Kenneth Hammond Of Adair Dies

Kenneth R. Hammond, 76, of Adair, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1980, at the Americana Healthcare Center in Macomb.

Mr. Hammond was born July 14, 1904 in Adair, the son of Leslie and Myrtle Elwell Hammond. He married Wilma Swedell on May 31, 1927 in Downs, Ill.

He was a farmer and had lived in the Adair community all of his life. He worked for the Adair Bank for six years. He was a member of the McDonough County Farm Bureau, the McDonough County Board of Supervisors from New Salem Twp. for 24 years, and the Adair United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Rutledge of Adair; one son, Travis of Adair; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Hazel Burnhart and Mrs. Roscoe (Letha) Smith, both of Adair, Mrs. Oral (Freda) Landis of Decatur, and Mrs. Fern Marshall of Table Grove.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Keith, and one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Gingerich.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Clugston Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Oral Landis officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
