WILMA (SWEDELL) HAMMOND

Wilma Hammond

Wilma Hammond, 94, of Macomb, formerly of the Adair area, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2003, at Elms Nursing Home.

She was born July 23, 1908, in Adair, the daughter of William and Stella Herndon Swedell. She married Kenneth Hammond on May 31, 1927, in Downs. He died Oct. 7, 1980.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Travis, and two brothers.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia (and Robert) Rutledge of Adair; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was a former member of the Adair Home Economics Club and a charter member of the McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a former member of Adair United Methodist Church in Adair and its United Methodist Women.

Services were held Monday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Adair Bandstand Association, the Elms Nursing Home or to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.
