James Roosa

James E. Roosa, 78, of Astoria died at 12:40 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 1995, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.

He was born May 7, 1916, in Schuyler County, a son of Don J. and Beulah R. Drummond Roosa. He married Mildred Parr on Dec. 21, 1938, in Summum.

Surviving are one son, Gale of Ipava; one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Dixie) Snyder of Peoria; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Irma Ambrosius of Joplin, Mo.; and one brother, Howard of Astoria.

He was a lifelong farmer in the Astoria area. He was a member of the Astoria Alumni Association. He was a member of Bader Christian Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church or the Astoria Township Cemetery Association.
