Herbert ParsanoHerbert Leo Parsano, 87, of Vermont died at 10:08 p.m. July 2, 2025, at his home.

He was born June 16, 1938, in Ray, a son of Herbert and Vera Ogden Parsano. He married Mary Ann Woodworth on Aug. 20, 1960, in Mount Sterling. She preceded him in death on July 19, 1985. He later married Paula Cooper on June 29, 1996, in Vermont. She survives.

Also surviving are four children, Mike (and Missy) Parsano of Rushville, Tana Parsano of Mount Sterling, Crissyanna (and Charles) Schwettmann of Lemon Grove, Calif., and Jason Cooper of Vermont; one sister, Brenda (and George) Hite of Industry; two brothers, Ronald (and Melinda) Parsano of Vermont and Donald Parsano of Macomb; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Mandi Downs; three brothers, David Parsano, Michael Parsano and Gerald Parsano; and one sister, Donna Bottens.

He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

He worked at the Vermont Foundry for 44 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of the Ipava American Legion, Forty and Eight and the California VFW.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A military service will be held in the Vermont Cemetery on Friday at 11 a.m. Military Rites will be provided by the Ipava American Legion. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Vermont American Legion on Friday following military service. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
