Amanda Downs

Amanda "Mandi" D. Downs, 19, of Vermont died at 9:27 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a two-car crash near Macomb.

She was born Feb. 26, 1981, in Rushville, a daughter of Chris and Wanda Morrow Downs.

Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Wanda and Mike Parsano of Vermont; her father and stepmother, Chris and Barbara Downs of Rushville; seven brothers, Dusty Downs, Jason Hogan, Chad Hogan, Kyle Hogan and Bryan Downs, all of Rushville, and Robert Parsano and Aaron Parsano, both of Vermont; two sisters, Candi Parsano and Mary Beth Parsano, both of Vermont; her grandparents, Homer and Vada Downs and Earl and Darlene Morrow, all of Rushville, Bryan Douglas of Quincy and Leo and Paula Parsano of Vermont; and her great-grandmother, Agnes Morrow of Lockport.

A 1999 graduate of VIT High School, she was an All-American Cheerleader. She was a member of chorus, the National Honor Society, Science Club, yearbook staff, Rainbow Girls and Students Against Drunk Driving. She participated in the drama department.

She would have been a sophomore this fall at Western Illinois University, studying education. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority.

She also was studying with the John Casablanca Modeling Agency in Chicago.

She was first runner-up in the 1999 Miss Fulton County pageant.

She attended the United Methodist Church in Vermont.

She worked at Wal-Mart in Macomb.

Services were held today at 11 a.m. at Rushville Free Methodist Church with Rev. Rob Kirkham officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
