Clifford E. “Gene” Prather, 87, of Huntsville died at 8:30 p.m. April 7, 2016, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling.Clifford E. “Gene” Prather, 87, of Huntsville died at 8:30 p.m. April 7, 2016, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount Sterling.
He was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Oakland Township, Schuyler County, a son of Clifford A. and Elvere Lancaster Prather. He married LeIsle Yates on Dec. 18, 1954, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Larry (and Dixie) Prather of Camden, Rick (and Sandy) Prather of Rushville and Mike Prather and Roger (and Lisa) Prather, both of Mount Sterling; one brother, Howard (and Glenna) Prather of Rushville; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tami Prather; four brothers, Virgil Prather, Max Prather, Don Prather and Jim Prather; and two sisters, Emma Lee Prather and Ruth Ann Prather.
He was a life-long farmer. He was a beekeeper and liked making maple syrup.
He and LeIsle were members of Houston United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Palm Cemetery.
