He was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Rushville, a son of Clifford A. and Elvere Lancaster Prather. He married Joyce Morrell on Dec. 20, 1969, at First Christian Church in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Matthew (and Lori) and Kerry, both of Rushville; one daughter, Jennifer Prather of Rushville; two brothers, Gene (and Leisle) of Huntsville and Howard (and Glenna) of Littleton; one granddaughter; and three grandsons.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil, Max and Don; and two sisters, Emma Lee and Ruth Ann.
He was a life-long farmer and worked for the City of Rushville Cemetery Department.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Rushville City Cemetery with David Haney officiating. Worthington Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
