William Park Jr.

William K. Park Jr., “Ballpark”, 55, of Virginia died at 8:11 p.m. Dec. 12, 2014, at his home.

He was born Aug. 31, 1959, in Rushville, a son of William K. “Willy” and Faye Moore Park. He married Brenda Sweatman on Oct. 26, 1991, in Virginia. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother and stepfather, Faye and Larry Corbin of Ripley; stepmother, Judy Park of Rushville; step grandmothers, Christine Agans of Rushville and Maurine Corbin of Quincy; and four brothers, Jim (and Karen) Ward of Cooperstown, Rick (and Susan) Park and Monte (and Salina) Park, both of Rushville, and Marvin (and Diane) Corbin of Ripley; one sister, Belinda (and Jerry) Bassett of Oceanside, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Harold Park.

He was a 1978 graduate of Beardstown High School. He first worked for Burlington Northern Railroad before working at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown. He later became a sales representative for Westown Ford in Jacksonville and Green Motors in Rushville. In 1998, he began Ballpark Motors in Virginia and operated until his health failed.

He was a member of Rushville Moose Lodge #506, Beardstown Elks, National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Pheasants Forever and ABATE.

He played and managed the softball leagues at Schuy-Rush Park for years. He was recently inducted into ASA Hall of Fame along with Ballpark Motors Co-ed Softball Team as State Champions in 2014.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Debbie Hester and Craig Klitz officiating. Burial will follow in Garner Chapel Cemetery in Philadelphia, Ill.
