Larry CorbinLarry Eugene Corbin, 69, of Ripley died at 4:58 p.m. Jan. 23, 2017, at his home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Streator, a son of Eugene Arthur and Maurine Fulkerson Corbin. He married Velma Faye Moore on Nov. 25, 1967, in Rushville. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2016.

He also was preceded in death by two sons, William “Ballpark” Park Jr. and Harold Park; and one niece, Jennifer Corbin.

Surviving are one son, Marvin (and Diane) Corbin of Ripley; one daughter, Belinda (and Jerry) Bassett of Rolla, Mo.; his mother, Maurine Corbin of Quincy; two brothers, Randall (and Emma) Corbin of Live Oak, Fla., and Kenneth (and Joyce) Corbin of Rushville; one sister, Susan (and Archie) Whewell of Versailles; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was a 1965 graduate of Brown County High School.

He first worked as a farm hand and at Bartlow Brothers in Rushville. In October of 1967, he found his career path with the former Oscar Mayer in Beardstown. He first worked on the kill floor where he later became supervisor. After the purchase of the plant by Excel, he took many classes, worked long hours and became the Regulatory Superintendent over the entire facility. He held this position until his retirement on Oct. 31, 2013, due to health issues.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Matt Haberman officiating. Burial will follow in the Ripley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
