Preston E. Prather Life Long Resident Died Sunday Noon

Preston Prather, a well known resident of Astoria, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lem Davis in Astoria, Sunday, following a brief illness from paralysis.

Mr. Prather was born in Woodland township, Fulton county, May 4, 1885. At the time of his death he was aged 79 years, 10 months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Augusta Hughes on Sept. 9, 1879, who preceded him in death. To this union six children were born, two of whom also preceded him in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Lorraine Davis, Mrs. Goldie Hartley, Orley Prather, all of Astoria, and Mrs. Clelia Wilson of Long Beach, Calif. Twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two half brothers, Upton Prather of Astoria and William Prather of Ray, and one half sister, Mrs. John Davis.

About 40 years ago Mr. Prather united with the U. B. church, of which he was a faithful member.

Mr. Prather was an honored citizen. For many years he was engaged in farming.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the U. B. church, conducted by Rev. H. E. Longbrake, assisted by Rev. T. P. Krumpe. Interment in Astoria cemetery.
