James “Jim” McCombs, 71, of Astoria died at 6:21 p.m. Aug. 4, 2015, at Graham Hospital in Canton.James “Jim” McCombs, 71, of Astoria died at 6:21 p.m. Aug. 4, 2015, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Bader, a son of Henry and Bonnie Edwards McCombs Bair. He married Peggy Stambaugh on Feb. 23, 1980, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Jim (and Erica) McCombs of Canton; one daughter, Dawn (and Robert) Vaughn of Astoria; four brothers, Lloyd McCombs of Astoria, Tony (and Vickie) McCombs of Rushville, Patrick McCombs of Beardstown and Ted Bair of Harriman, Tenn.; one sister, Suzie Bair of Canton; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Janie Danner, Judy Wright and Nancy Westlake.
He worked at Astoria Township Cemetery and helped on the Stambaugh farm as a farmhand.
Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Van Tine officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
