James Mangold Sr.James Mangold Sr., 74, of Harrison, Ark., formerly of Astoria, died at 9:55 p.m. Sept. 21, 2007, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.

He was born April 9, 1933, in Boone County, Ark., the son of Henry and Eula Glenn Mangold.

Surviving are three sons, James (and Cindy) Mangold Jr., Johnny Mangold, both of Rushville and Daniel (and Barbara) Mangold of Frederick; one daughter, Hannah (and Steve) Slinker of Minier; six sisters, Dorothy (and Jesse) Youngblood and Freda Harris, both of Alpena, Ark., Alberta Mangold, Edith Kleinekt, Wanda (and Billy) Grey and Lavada (and Warren) Felix, all of Harrison; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Gossage; and one sister, Lola Bates.

He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict.

He was a truck driver for Clanin Trucking in Astoria and Ivan Kliffmiller in Rushville. He drove a school bus for North Arkansas University in Harrison.

He attended many Assembly of God churches and was a volunteer fireman for Astoria Fire Department and Civil Defense.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the Littleton Cemetery. Military rites were accorded Monday by the Schuyler American Legion Post #4. Cremation rites were accorded. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
