Verlyn Mayall

Verlyn L. Mayall, 74, of 740 East South Street in Ipava, died at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 1996, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Astoria, a son of Lawrence C. and Olive M. Danner Mayall. Verlyn married Helen Louise Gray on Nov. 2, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Ron (Judy) Reneau of Urbana, Ohio, Mrs. Ron (Sandy) Blemler of Normal, Mrs. Curt (Linda) Schisler of Ipava, Mrs. Jerry (Sharon) Thomson and Mrs. Michael (Peg) Hoyt, both of Macomb, Mrs. Ed (Mary Jo) Wherley of South Vienna, Ohio, Mrs. Ted (Gayle) Stoklosa of Sheridan, Ark., and Mrs. Jay (Janice) Steele of Table Grove; one son, Rodney Larry Mayall of Ipava; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Willis Mayall of St. Louis, Mo.

Verlyn was preceded in death by his parents, one son Verlyn “Bud” Mayall, his grandparents, Claude Everett and Luella Sarah (Brinton) Danner and Wilbur Lewis and Jennie (Gouker) Mayall, and one brother, Claude “Jack” Mayall.

Verlyn farmed in the Astoria area for nine years and the Macomb area for 36 years, retiring in 1981. He moved to Ipava in 1982. He was a member of the Ipava Sportsmens Club since 1982 where he served as Director. He graduated from Ipava High School in 1939 where he was active in sports. He loved sports and his family.

Funeral services were held on Friday at the Ipava Christian Church. Burial was in the Ipava Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Ipava Fire and Rescue Squad or the Ipava Christian Church.
