Everett McWhorter

Everett L. McWhorter, 87, of Canton, died at 2:12 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 1996, at Graham Hospital Extended Care in Canton.

He was born July 4, 1908, in Casey County, Ky., a son of David and Mandy (Moran) McWhorter. He first married Katie Green on Nov. 27, 1927. She preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 1930. He later married Pauline V. (Martin) Frank on Feb. 19, 1934, in Canton. She died on Dec. 17, 1984, in Canton. Also preceding him were his parents, one stepson Claude G. Frank; one stepdaughter, Helen Smith; four brothers, Lloyd McWhorter, Charlie McWhorter, Luther McWhorter, and Perry McWhorter; three step-grandchildren, Larry Dean Wooddell, Rebecca Frank and Evva Lena Frank; a step-great-grandson, Monty Chasteen; and a great-granddaughter, Bambi Sue Shanks.

He is survived by one son, Jack McWhorter of Canton; one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Wilma) Herink of Vermont; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Frances Kaler of Canton.

Mr. McWhorter worked as a machine repairer at Caterpillar for 15 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to working at Caterpillar, he had worked at International Harvester for 10 years in Canton.

Funeral services were held Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Delmar Smith and Rev. Jill Johnson-Scott officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
