NANCY FRANCES (McWHORTER) KALER

Nancy Kaler

Nancy Frances Kaler, 82, of Canton died at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Sunset Manor.

She was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Hustonville, Ky., the daughter of David James and Nancy B. Russell McWhorter. She married Keith Kaler on Dec. 13, 1947, in Lewistown. He died Jan. 14, 1979.

She also was preceded in death by one son, David Kaler; two brothers; and four half brothers.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Home Extension Association, the Happy Quilters and Canton YWCA. She worked with the Boy Scouts for 15 years and was granted the Silver Fawn Award by the Creve Coeur Council Boy Scouts of America (for female Scouters for their distinguished service to boyhood). She was a leader for Pack 104 and served as a den leader coach for three years, assisting in training new den mothers. She received the Den Mother Award in 1963. She also was active in PTA and served as a campaign worker for Canton Community Chest.

She was a member of South Park United Methodist Church in Canton.

Services were held Monday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home with Rev. Rick Atchley officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Canton.
