Jack V. McWhorter, 74, of Canton died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in the emergency room at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born March 31, 1928, in Canton, the son of Everett L. and Katie Green McWhorter. He married Dorothy Stambaugh on Oct. 29, 1950, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Donna Stairwalt of Canton; one stepson, Steve (and Bonnie) Breese of Canton; one sister, Wilma (and Arthur) Herink of Vermont; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepbrother and one stepsister.

An Army veteran, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1984 and Moose Lodge 784.

He was a self-employed electrician before retiring.

Services were held Friday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Paul Walles officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to Wesley United Methodist Church Women in Canton.
