Verne Mitchell, 81, of Browning, died at 3:25 a.m. Friday, May 8, 1981, in Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born May 4, 1900, in Schuyler County, a son of Lenard R. and Dollie May Groves Mitchell. He was married to Katie Ann Cassel on Dec. 24, 1919, in Rushville. She died on Dec. 12, 1962.
Survivors include three sons, Lenard of Little Rock, Ark., Charles and Albert, both of Quincy; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred McMurl of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Dean Spencer officiating. Burial was in South Fulton Cemetery.
