A lifetime resident of the Browning community, Leonard R. Mitchell, 92, died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday in Snyder’s Nursing Home in Rushville following a long illness.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Browning Township on April 22, 1873, a son of Albert and Louisa Williams Mitchell. On Dec. 4, 1900, he was married to Dollie May Groves, who died July 9, 1962.
Surviving are one son, Otto Vern Mitchell, Browning; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Mitchell, St. Louis, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Brown, Rushville. Two sons and three brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. David Powell officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.
