Jeffery LangnerJeffery A. Langner, 71, of Rushville died at 9:32 a.m. April 9, 2023, at his home.

He was born Nov. 17, 1951, in Rushville, a son of Maurice Henry and Nola Elizabeth “Betty” Burnett Langner. He married Angie Rebman on April 8, 1979. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Nola Langner; one sister, Cathy (and Mike) Leahy of Cincinnati, Ohio; two nephews; two nieces; three great-nieces; and two great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He was a 1969 graduate of Rushville High School where he played football. He graduated in 1973 with a Bachelors Degree in Education and Physical Education from Monmouth College, where he was an all American football player. He later received his Masters Degree in Education and Physical Education from Western Illinois University.

He was part owner of Wells Fargo Inn for a few years. He was a sixth grade teacher for over 30 years at Rushville and was a high school football coach. As head coach, the Rushville Rockets went to state playoffs nine consecutive years. He coached several sports for many years including basketball, track and field and football.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with David Haney officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Schuyler County Humane Society, RIHS Football or Langner Veterinary Scholarship, Schuyler County Community Foundation care of Rushville State Bank.
