Maurice LangnerMaurice Henry Langner, 93, of Rushville died at 8:18 p.m. Dec. 2, 2011, at Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy.

He was born July 25, 1918, in Rushville, a son of John Henry and Mary Cornelia Starr Langner. He married Nola Elizabeth "Betty" Burnett on May 23, 1948, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jeff (and Angie) Langner of Rushville; one daughter, Cathy (and Mike) Leahy of Cincinnati, Ohio; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Elnora Langner Seymour; three half sisters; and one half brother.

He was an Army veteran of World War II receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He was employed at Rushville State Bank for over 45 years, retiring as vice president and cashier in 1986.

He was a member and elder of Rushville First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where he served on numerous church and community committees.

He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post #4, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Scripps Park Golf League. He served on Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital Board and coached an American Legion basketball team for several years.

Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. John Sowers and David Haney officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military honors by a U.S. Army Honors Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.
