He was born July 21, 1941, in Waukon, Iowa, a son of Howard and Bessie Pettit Lau. He married Susan Brubeck on April 8, 1967, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, JT (and Kara) Lau of East Peoria and Chad (and Alesha) Lau of Morton; one daughter, Robyn (and John) Bruce of Arvada, Colo.; two sisters, Patricia (and Phil) Patrick of Loami and Lorraine Weinstein of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one step granddaughter, Nichole Perkins; and one brother, Bill Lau.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years, retiring in May 2005 as an international sales rep.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Morton. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
