Rosmary LetoRosmary Leto, née Poppenhager, 77, of Woodridge died April 2, 2020.

She was born May 15, 1942, in the old family farmhouse outside of Astoria, a daughter of Orlen and Vilda Poppenhager. She married Mario Leto in 1961 in Streator. He preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Max and Jeff Poppenhager.

Surviving are three children, Julie (and Thomas) Staehely née Leto, James (and Sonya) Leto and Mario (and Shiori) Leto; five sisters; two brothers; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Astoria High School, she packed her bags for a nanny job in Chicago, eventually working as a secretary for The Toni Company.

Rosmary and Mario moved out of Chicago in 1967 to the suburb of Woodridge. She was a homemaker for her first 20 years in Woodridge. She later worked as a clerk at the local Osco drug store and then for Joseph Leto DDS as a dental assistant. When Dr. Leto retired, she stayed on as office manager for John Kaminski, DDS and worked for him until retiring in 2006.

A devout Catholic convert, she was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, attended adoration and held weekly rosary.

Due to current shelter-in-place orders, there will be no funeral services at this time. Per her request, she will be cremated and a memorial service will take place at a future date. DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel in West Chicago is in charge of arrangements.
