Donald Lerch

Donald LerchDonald Wayne Lerch, 71, of Rushville died at 10:55 p.m. Feb. 13, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born June 6, 1943, in Oakland Township, Schuyler County, a son of Marion “Mike” and Margaret Ruth Bradbury Lerch. He married Charlene “Char” Ethridge on Sept. 7, 1963, in Beardstown. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2006.

He also was preceded in death by two grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Margaret Lerch and Betty Jane Bowman; and four brothers, Walter Livingston, Larry Joe Lerch, Robert Livingston and Jack Lerch.

Surviving are two children, Chuck (and Missy) Lerch of Vincennes, Ind., and Dawn Lerch of Rushville; one sister, Joan (and Steve) Stull of Raritan; two brothers, Marion “Bert” (and Karen) Lerch of Beardstown and Carl (and Donna) Lerch of Cuba; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of Rushville First Southern Baptist Church, and was co-owner with his wife of Don and Char’s Package Liquor for 41 years, retiring Dec. 5, 2005.

He was known for his hunting books, and was working on a fourth volume of hunting stories.

Services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Mike Hall officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.
