EMMA (ROTHERMEL) MIRKES LUDWIG

Emma Mirkes Ludwig, 96, of Hennessey, Okla., died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, at Hennessey Care Center.

She was born July 25, 1907, in Hydro, Okla., a daughter of John and Annie Verkemp Rothermel. She married John Mirkes on Nov. 19, 1923, in Marshall, Okla. He preceded her in death. She later married Albert Ludwig on April 15, 1947, in Hennessey. He also preceded her in death.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.

Surviving are two sons, Nick (and Rosalie) Mirkes and John (and Phyllis) Mirkes, both of Hennessey; three daughters, Rita O'Hern of Vermont, Lucile (and Frank) Turner of Birmingham, Ala., and Rose Ann (and Don) Bagniefski of LaCrosse, Wis.; one brother, Paul Rothermel of Marshall; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held Sept. 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hennessey. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Hennessey. Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home in Hennessey was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church memorial or building funds.
