Kemper L. Kersh Dies At Age 69

Kemper L. Kersh, 69, of 522 E. Pearl St., Farmington, died at 3:02 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 1986, at his residence.

He was born July 29, 1917, in Smithfield, the son of Boyd and Maude (Shifflett) Kersh. He first married Vera W. Henderson March 27, 1941 in Palmyra, Mo. She died Jan. 5, 1967. He then married Norma Ater Dec. 1, 1967 in Farmington. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Wayne Kersh of Farmington; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Hoops of Farmington; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Rosi Hummel of Burke, Va.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Mrs. Elaine Danner of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He owned and operated Kersh Standard Service and Cafe in Farmington from 1954 to 1971. He then went to work for Doering Trucking Parts in Peoria from 1971 to 1981, retiring in 1981. He worked part-time at Anderson Funeral Home in Farmington for the past four years. He was a member of Farmington Moose Lodge 1571.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Anderson Funeral Home in Farmington with Rev. Donald Andrews officiating. Burial was in Oaks Ridge Cemetery.
