Well Known Browning Twp. Farmer Dies

Martin Luther Kolp, well known farmer of Browning township, died at the Marietta-Phelps hospital, Macomb, Tuesday evening following several weeks illness.

Mr. Kolp was born in Pennsylvania Nov. 10, 1870, the son of John and Mary Behman Kolp. He was aged 75 years, 11 months and 25 days. He came to Illinois with his parents at the age of six years and lived in Fulton and Schuyler county the rest of his life. In 1924 he accepted Christ as his savior, Assembly of God church.

He was united in marriage to Nevada Geiman, Dec. 5, 1897, and to this union was born four children, one daughter, Kathryn, preceding him in death Dec. 10, 1923, aged 16 years.

His wife and the following children survive to mourn his passing: Mrs. Mary Skiles, Browning; Mrs. Isabella Avery, Elwood, and Geiman Kolp of Ray; one sister, Mrs. Katie Johnson of LaHarpe; two brothers, Elmer and Abe, both of Astoria; also 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Astoria Church of the Brethren, conducted by Eld. Will Miller, assisted by Rev. G. G. Canfield. Burial at South Fulton cemetery. Friends may call at the Shawgo Memorial Home until funeral hour.
