Dwight Johnson Dies At Age 85

Dwight “Jock” Johnson, 85, a farmer of Vermont, died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 1989 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born June 9, 1904, in Table Grove, a son of Orville and Elizabeth (Wilson) Johnson. He married Mary Short Wilson in Macomb on Feb. 9, 1927. She survives.

He was a member of the AF&AM Lodge of Industry and a past Mayor of Vermont.

Surviving are one son, Larry Johnson of Pekin; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Nelson of Vermont; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Hay of Macomb and Mrs. Dorla Klusman of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont with Rev. Tim Gilliland officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Fund.
