Robert H. Immel, 81, of Table Grove died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born July 15, 1918, in Peoria, a son of Lester Pete and Rita Kerker Immel. He married Maxine Leonard on Sept. 25, 1939, in Burlington, Iowa. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Toby Curley and Shirley (and Robert) Nelson, both of Table Grove, and Kathleen (and Leonard) Wass of Oswego; one brother, John (and Marian) of Peoria; one sister, Jean Jones of LaFayette, La.; nine grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.

One brother and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Macomb Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1921 and Table Grove American Legion Post 413.

He worked for Caterpillar Inc. in Oswego and Peoria for 32 years, retiring in 1973. He then farmed in Table Grove.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava with Rev. Damien Spikereit officiating. Burial was in Ipava Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by his American Legion post.

Memorials may be made to his American Legion post.
