John Hadsall Jr.John S. Hadsall Jr., 72, of Normal, formerly of Ipava, died at 1:03 p.m. Dec. 31, 2016, at home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1944, in Canton, the son of John and Virginia Harding Hadsall Sr. He married Phyllis J. Hopping on Nov. 24, 1962, in Ipava. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2016.

Surviving are four sons, Brian (and Deborah) Hadsall of Stanford, Keith Hadsall of Omaha, Neb., Scott (and Jackie) Hadsall of Benson and Christofer (and Georgi) Hadsall of Oswego; two sisters, Esther (and Bob) Brush and Rochelle (and Todd) Jones, both of Lewistown; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was a machinist at Caterpillar for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He then worked as a clerk at True Value in Woodhaven.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1963-67. He then entered the U.S. Army Reserves 733rd Maintenance Unit of Canton and the Medical Unit in Peoria with a rank of Sergeant 1st Class.

He was a member of Sublette American Legion Post and the UAW Local 974 of East Peoria.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Berean Christian Church in Ipava with Pastor Doug Krukewitt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery with military rites provided by the Ipava American Legion. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
