Keith Hadsall, formerly of Ipava, died Sept. 1, 2021, after a year-long struggle with his health.

He was born Nov. 20, 1965, in Grand Forks, N.D., a son of John and Phyllis Hadsall.

He grew up in Ipava and graduated from VIT High School in 1984. Starting in 1983, he joined the United States Army Reserve and served in 733rd Maintenance Company. Upon graduation, he entered full-time service in the United States Army. He attended Basic Training at Fort Benning Georgia and continued on to U.S. Army Airborne Jump School. Upon completion of Airborne Jump School, he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division located in Fort Bragg North Carolina. He served in this unit through the completion of his service in 1988. After he was honorably discharged, he began a 28-year career as a prison guard for the Illinois Department of Corrections. Through his 28-year career, he worked in Pontiac and Galesburg. After his IDOC career, he spent time working at Caterpillar and a wide variety of jobs in Omaha.

Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
